This charming spot specializes in classic French cuisine, executed with precision and heartfelt passion, making it a beloved destination for both locals and visitors craving the true taste of France.
The menu is a delightful journey through French culinary tradition, featuring standout dishes that range from rich and savory to exquisitely delicate. Start your meal with a warm, comforting French Onion Soup—a bubbling broth layered with nutty Gruyère and Emmental cheeses and crisp croutons that gently melt in your mouth. For a truly indulgent appetizer, the Burgundy Escargots bathed in garlic and herb butter offer an earthy depth that’s impossible to resist.
Petit Trois’s signature Big MEC Burger has become an iconic classic, praised repeatedly by diners for its perfect balance of juicy, tender beef and a buttery, toasted bun. Paired with their Clarified Butter Frites, crispy and golden, it’s a sublime comfort food experience elevated by quality and care. Seafood lovers will delight in the Mussels Marinière and the delicate yet flavorful Trout Almondine, where each bite bursts with fresh, satisfying taste.
For a lighter touch, the vibrant salads, like the Frisée aux Lardon with its smoky bacon lardons and the Celery & Mint Salad featuring tangy Thai chili vinaigrette and sheep’s milk feta, deliver brightness and texture, cleansing the palate beautifully between richer dishes.
End your meal on a decadent note with desserts such as the airy Chocolate Soufflé or the velvety Mousse au Chocolat, both of which linger lovingly on the tongue. The Paris Brest pastry also garners enthusiastic praise for its crisp choux and creamy hazelnut filling—a perfect pairing with their curated wine list.
Atmosphere at Petit Trois is undeniably cozy and intimate, amplified by attentive, warm service that many guests remember fondly. Despite its sometimes bustling popularity, the restaurant maintains an inviting charm reminiscent of a small Parisian neighborhood bistro. Customers like Claudia Michelle Chandra and Nikky Brown highlight the genuine hospitality and the way the team’s enthusiasm for each dish elevates the entire dining experience.
Reviews speak of a place where every bite tells a story—from the perfect seasoning in the Steak Tartare to the unexpected delight of well-crafted cocktails such as the signature “Pear.” While some visitors note moments to refine, the consensus leans overwhelmingly toward a restaurant that surprises and enchants, delivering French food that’s both accessible and refined.
If you’re seeking a rich, sensory journey into French flavors with a side of genuine conviviality, Petit Trois is an essential stop in Los Angeles’s dining scene—where traditional techniques and fresh ingredients coalesce into memorable meals, each plate an ode to France’s culinary artistry.
This was my first visit to Petjt Trois and wow, it really is as good as they say. Every dish we ordered was executed by well and the service by our server Jake was excellent. Dishes which stood out to me were the endives and big mec burger. Their fries are amazing!! They have some good wine offerings and their cocktails were also delicious. It was quite packed when we were there but the ambiance remained casual and relatively quiet. The restaurant is in a bit of a weird location and is divided into 3 areas: 2 indoor dining rooms and an outdoor area. It was still too cold to sit outside when we came so we opted for indoors. Parking at their lot is valet only but there is some street parking available.
We visited the café for my friend’s birthday breakfast and ordered the Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. The food was not bad, though nothing particularly special. There was a lot of sautéed spinach and very little smoked salmon. That said, the service was attentive, friendly, and courteous. Overall, it left a good impression. I can definitely recommend it for a visit, but it’s not a place that will become my personal favorite.
A true hidden gem. Who would think you’d find exquisite French dining in a parking lot beside a donut shop? The food is rich in flavor. Seriously. Even the butter is better. I took one bite of the trout and couldn’t believe my tastebuds. The “Pear” cocktail is fantastic. The service was also top tier. The entire staff was warm and friendly with big smiles, waves, and hellos. Our server, Tony, was spectacular. This is absolutely a must try! Trust me, you’ll be back for more.
Having travelled around the world, I already know how French onion soup tastes, and the same goes with a burger. My wife and I went to Petit Trois expecting a “good” version of these from Chef Ludo. Instead, we were treated to a surprise, an almost magical one. The soup was divine. The burger, the Big Mec, was heaven bite after bite after bite. It’s a small yet very cozy place, just like a beautiful cafe/bistro in France, and we appreciated the superb service from start to the very finish. And how they appreciated our flying in thousands of miles to (finally) try Chef Ludo’s masterpieces. Definitely a highlight of our trip. Merci beaucoup, Petit Trois! More power!
This was truly one of the best French dining experiences I’ve ever had. The ingredients were exceptional in quality, and the tomato salad stood out with its fresh, vibrant flavor. Every main course was impressive—especially the Duck Confit, perfectly prepared with tender texture and rich taste. Both the chocolate soufflé and chocolate mousse are must-tries. The service was attentive, and the atmosphere warm and elegant. I’ll definitely be returning.
This is my aunt’s favorite place and now I know why. The food and service were exemplary. I’m not a fan of driving to this area, but I cannot wait to come here again. The chicken liver was amazing and the duck was cooked to perfection. They’re located in the east side of Highland just north of Melrose. Small parking lot, paid valet only but if you’re lucky you can get street parking. Bar seating inside but they have patio seating as well.
Never a bad experience, I’ve loved every meal at Petit Trois. Exceptional food, great quality, amazing flavors, rich, bold, and filling! May be pricey but you get big portions. Always gotta get the big Mec. One of the best burgers in LA. The omelette is always perfect. the Croque Madame is one of the few you can find made right in LA. The steak frites are also a must!
